from Little Black Book of Stories

He discovered colour, at the same time as he took up the post at St. Pantaleon’s.  Every time he came home, he stared at the bright forms on his walls, and worshipped the absence of God in the material staining of paint and ink.

Welcome

dw.jpgNamaste and Welcome to Esoterica Underground Collective: Dark Woods & Wastelands. The psychological landscape of a dancer/musician/librarian immersed in geeky melancholic sub-subcultures.   This blog is my home away from home.   I spend most of my time on my other website: www.blackhoodygrrl.com where I am busy exploring the Sacred Art of Dance, particularly tribal fusion bellydance.  But this place is a refuge from all things dance and focuses primarily on my geeky and melancholic interests.

Here you might find these subjects explored in depth.  In no particular order:

old folios

cemeteries

Hi-Fructose,  Juxtapose, Coilhouse, and Yoga Journal magazines

fetish photography

Bladerunner and Marie Antoinette explored as visual landscapes (the films)

Underground, original, avante-garde, minimalist, experimental, and melancholic music

The works of Philip K. Dick, J.R.R. Tolkien, Neil Gaiman, Shunryu Suzuki, Alan Watts, Nietzsche, Henry Rollins, Arthur Rimbaud, W.B. Yeats, James Joyce, and many others

Medievalism, Anglo-Saxon Studies, mythology, neo-paganism, archetypes

Post-apocalyptic fiction, gothic fairy tales, folklore, dreamscapes

Socio-anthropological studies of gothic/tribal subcultures

I am posting all original art (collages, photos, stories) on this blog.  Other artist’s websites I have posted in my links.  Please check them out, I am updating and adding new links on a weekly basis!
